What it's about
Taxicab driver Jimmy Doyle (Pat O'Brien) marries former prostitute Mae (Carole Lombard), unaware of her past. When he does learn about her former life, he sets out to make an honest woman of her. But during the reformation period, Mae returns to a hotel of ill repute to collect the $200 that she had loaned to a streetwalker friend who conned her. Jimmy mistakenly thinks that she has returned to prostitution, and her situation worsens when she is charged with the murder of her friend and jailed awaiting a court trial.
